"George Gently" + The Truth Must Be Told About Allen Dulles, and told Nationally.

No movie tonight, but also no World War Two pontificating, so you can breathe a sigh of relief and say "hooray"! "Thanks for the reprieve, Ad". And you know it is only a reprieve because I'll eventually get back to harping on it, haha. But not tonight, and maybe not for a while because I haven't any more WW2 movies on the horizon, nor any books. Gotta find some new ones, lol.  :)

All kidding aside, I hope my historical obsession with the war is not off-putting. Or my on-and-off periods of dwelling on grim topics. It's just that somebody's gotta do it, and sometimes that somebody is me.

I did watch a 90 minute "George Gently" mystery this evening, another program I highly recommend, but mostly to fans of police procedurals. It is a BBC production, so you know it's great, but it is also very Hard Boiled. Just as in your own favorite BBC shows, there are lots of quirky English characters, but in "George Gently" they are all involved in some fairly heinous crimes. The two best things about the show are the two leads : The greying but resolute Martin Shaw, who plays Inspector Gently, and Lee Ingleby, who plays Gently's sidekick Detective Sergeant John Bacchus. He is a generation younger than Gently, and as the show takes place in the early 1960s, actor Ingleby, with his slightly punk attitude and British Invasion face and haircut, comes across as a Who fan who just happens to be a very tough cop.

I love the show - which, at 90 minutes is more like a separate TV movie with each episode than a typical series. As reported, I discovered it here at Pearl's, when she used to watch PBS all the time. I saw snippets of the show and it caught my eye, and now, about three or four years later I have started to buy the dvds.

As for books, I have nearly completed "The Devil's Chessboard : Allen Dulles, The CIA and the Rise of America's Secret Government", which, by it's lengthy subtitle, tells you the gist of the contents. It's mostly the story of the life and career of Allen Dulles, a man not well known in this day and age, but whose leadership and policies as the second Director of the CIA created the United States of America as we now know it. Dulles was a very sophisticated man in the ways of cunning and deception, and in carrying himself with an air of upper echelon East Coast bonhomie; Wall Street corporate elitism.

He was a WW2 spy (sorry!, lol) and a corporate lawyer who rose to become CIA director during the Presidency of Dwight Eisenhower, and during his tenure he paved the way to shaping the geopolitical world as we know it today.

In truth, Allen Dulles may have been the most powerful man of the 20th Century. Because of his ability to present himself as patriotic and yet benign, he was able to insinuate himself into the position of Alternate and Hidden President Of The United States, acting on his own as CIA director and making his own decisions, involving assassinations of third-world leaders to protect the interests of corporate mining interests, and global giants like the United Fruit Company.

Allen Dulles was not an American Patriot, but a protector - at all costs - of American Business. And in protecting Business, he was not interested in protecting the worker, but merely the owners of those gigantic businesses. He even extended his protection to German conglomerates (sorry again!) like I.G. Farben. I will stop now, but Google I.G. Farben to see how gigantic a corporation can become, and how thoroughly inhuman. Remember that at the core of our ongoing study, we are trying to uncover the origins of the sociopathic personality, which leads to all of the major trouble on Planet Earth.

Allen Dulles may have been a sociopath, I don't know. In reading about him, he doesn't seem like a megalomaniac, and not a madman, not a psychopath. But he certainly had little regard for human life, and thought himself as high above the average person, and he made his decisions accordingly.

If he was not Pure Evil, he was certainly dominated in his soul by Evil. His influence was decidedly demonic, based in fear, arrogance and power.

It is very, very important for Americans of the current generation to know who this man was, and to also know his equally evil brother John Foster Dulles.

These were horrible men from the East Coast Banking and Corporate Establishment, and in the 20th Century they wreaked havoc on the values of this great Nation, as it was created by the Founding Fathers.

It took a long time for the truth to come out about Allen Dulles and his cronies, but now it is here. He helped to kill John F. Kennedy, and likely led the way, with Lyndon Johnson.

The truth always comes out eventually, and in America, we need the truth more than ever before. It is not good enough to just disparage the histories and crimes of other countries and empires without examining our own, as if America has always been immune to corruption and assassination. It's not right for us to continue to bury the truth, end of story.

So, that's my current book, and I will finish it up in the next day or two. And thanks to author David Talbot for his incredible research.

Soon I will look for something lighter to write about, lol, but I really feel that people like Mr. Dulles must be uprooted and revealed for who they really were, despite our National disinclination to do so. The Dulles name should NOT be on an airport, nor should LBJ's name be on anything. Just as Joseph Stalin's name has been erased from Russia, so should these names, and others, be erased from the United States. But I won't hold my breath.  :)

See you in the morn.  :):)
