Monday Night Love (Two Years Of Love)

Hi my Darling,

I am still at Pearl's, but I wanted to say that I might be home a little later this evening because Grimsley and I may go to visit our friend Ryan after I get off. He is moving to Arizona on Wednesday so this is the last we will see of him for a while. Right now I am just waiting to hear from Grim to see if he wants to go or not, but if we do go, I'll still be home by 9:30 at the latest. Not gonna stay super long.

I hope you had a nice day and I will talk to you when I get back.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

11:20pm : We did wind up going to see Ryan, and then Grim came with me on my walk back at CSUN. This afternoon I watched a very powerful - though sad and brutal - film : "Lone Survivor". Top of the line for a war film, though I know that's more of a guy thing. Other than that it was another quiet day. Tomorrow I will try the Andora trail again or possibly the one on Lilac Lane. It's supposed to be a cool, overcast morning, so I hope that forecast holds.

I hope you had a good day. It was two years ago tonight that I first said those words: "I Love You", and they mean even more today because of all we have felt and shared with each other in the time since then, and how we have come to know one another. It's really pretty amazing if you think about it.

Sweet Dreams, my Angel. I wish I was with you right now.

I Love You. Many, many hugs and kisses.  :):)

Love, Adam

Summer Evening Beauty (I Love You)

Hi Sweet Baby! I love the beautiful pictures and I wanna go on Summer evening walks with you so we can watch the sunset. :):) I love the way the sun goes down nice and slow in the Summer, and the warmth lingers in the air. I can't wait to experience it with you!

I am at Pearl's, and when I got here, The Black Kitty was sitting on the table on the front patio. She walked over, still on the table, and wanted to be petted, so I did. Then, from inside the house, The Kobedog started barking his head off, and a few seconds later Pearl opened the door and let him out. In the old days, the kitty would have run away, but now she knows that Kobi is basically harmless and anyway, she's up on a table and he can't get her. But Kobe wanted to be petted, too, so he came up and rolled over, and I was petting a dog with one hand and a cat with the other.......now I've gotta give The Kobester a bath. Wonder if he'll be as excited about that, lol.

I hope you are having a nice Summer evening.

I Love You, Elizabeth!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

I'm here until 6:30 (naturally) then back home after that.

11:20pm : Another quiet evening. Listening to Grieg, a composer I haven't heard much of. A little tired but starting next Saturday I will have five days off, so that rates an "Oh Boy" with an exclamation point at the end: "!" Five sleep-ins will rock.

This week I wanna go back to the Andora trail, probably on Tuesday, and I will have to research another one for Wednesday. Some things I need a constant supply of, like piano pieces and trails, haha.

I hope you had a nice evening and a good holiday weekend in general.

Another great week awaits!

I Love You and will see you in the morning.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Saturday Evening Love (chillin')

Good Evening, my Darling,

I'm home. A busy day today, and very hot. Lots of shopping after a morning trip to Reseda Park. Vickie did not come over, so I was by myself. Now I am gonna relax and do my entire walk later on. I hope you had a nice day. Are you going to see Slowdive at the festival in Chicago? I mention it because of your post. The picture is reminiscent of the heyday of the Big Rock Bands of the 1970s, when all the biggest bands - Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Stones, etc. - all had their own customised jumbo jets.

Those were the days when the big bands sold tens of millions of records. Nice to see The Stones still livin' the lifestyle.

Well anyway, just a nice quiet post-4th eve here at the pad. I'll be here til 8:30ish, then walk, then back.

I Love You and want to go to Japan with you, if you're going!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

11:30pm : A slow day, not many people out and about. I think it's because the 4th fell on a Friday, so everybody got a three day weekend and on Saturday they are chillin'. I am guessing you are doing the same, or maybe you guys went somewhere. Whatever the case, I hope your day was good. I Love You.

Happy 4th! :):) (awesome)

Happy 4th, my Darling,

I just wanted to check in before heading back to Pearl's. We went to Lake Balboa earlier and had a nice time watching the ducks and also some beautiful sparrow-sized black birds with red and yellow stripes on each shoulder. I will try and find out what they were. When they opened their wings to fly, the red/yellow stripes expanded - really pretty!

I hope you are having a nice holiday with family or friends or whoever you are celebrating with. :)
I have been at home since about noon, but that gave me a chance to really clean the joint up. I think I may head straight up to the church right after Pearl's. Not 100% sure yet. It'll depend on if anyone wants to come with me to see the fireworks and maybe do a mini-hike at Limekiln beforehand.

I always love the fireworks, that's for sure. And you will be there because I take you with me everywhere I go. :):)

So, have a blast, both literally and figuratively, my Baby. I'll be around till 6:30 at Pearl's, and then I should be back maybe a little after 10pm, depending on the traffic.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

11:50pm : Hi, my Darling. I got back a little later than anticipated, due to a humongous crowd and a slow crawl back to the car. But, it was a fantastic show, solid fireworks for 25 minutes straight. Super nice people at that church, and it must cost them a small fortune to put on that show, but everybody in the area really looks forward to it each year. Grimsley wound up coming with me, so I didn't have to go alone after all.

I hope you had a nice 4th, whatever you wound up doing. I saw your doggie post while I was at Pearl's, and it reminded me of Kobi, because we have a guy next door to Pearl who blows off his own fireworks every year and it scares the little guy half to death, according to Pearl. I know their ears are sensitive and it sucks, however, the "impending doom" angle and Dog Commentary in the Oatmeal cartoon was funny, and about exactly what the Kobester would say. While I was at Pearl's this eve, the guy's car was not there, so maybe Kobe lucked out.

I have gotta say that I have really loved these recent days and our feeling of togetherness and possibility. I loved the line in Alison Scarpulla's photo because that is exactly how I feel about life, and Elizabeth, I am so happy and so beyond grateful to know and love you because you know these special things.

Elizabeth, not a lot of people get it, meaning the (?) in life. You see, I can't even describe it, so I present it with a symbol instead. It's not something that can be described, or should be described, perhaps.

But you get it, you understand.

I think it has to do with faith, curiosity, and a Promise. That's the feeling I get. It's as if God knows that not many people Get It, and though He loves all people, He reserves something special (as Alison Scarpulla noted) for the people who notice The Indescribable. So long as they have faith in that mystery, that there is something glorious behind it, and so long as they remain curious about it, and try to articulate it through works of art (try to symbolise it in other words), God reserves a Promise for them.

I think there is a special Promise for those who look into the world, notice what can't be described and hold on to that and keep it.

You already get this.

I like to look at the rocks in Chatsworth. They are 60 million years old, and that blows me away. But because I believe there is Spirit in everything, I believe that those rocks get it, too.

Probably not in the way we get it, but all the same - they do get it. You can feel it when you are out there in those fields, near the rocks, away from all the traffic and "everyday" stuff.

When you are out there, you can feel this feeling, and you know that the rocks get it, and the birds get it, and so on.

We get it on a different level, perhaps. Or perhaps not.

But it all has to do with a Promise, I think. "Stay with Me, stay with This, these things you are thinking about.......and I will show you more. I will give you more".

I think it's kind of a Quiet Thing, because you know you really can't explain it to most folks.

People either get it, or they don't. Most don't, and that's cool, cause God Bless Them anyway.

But when you are one of the few who do get it, it's pretty wonderful to know and love someone else who does, too.

This was an awesome day. I Love You, Elizabeth. Sweet Dreams......

I will see you in the morning.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Our Tree (I'm Home) (I Love You)

Good Afternoon, my Angel,

I just wanted to tell you that I love the Alison Scarpulla picture. What a nice thing to see, just before I left for Pearl's! I got my hair cut earlier this afternoon, so now it's a moderate length like you've seen in some of my past pictures, but much more manageable.

Super hot out today, but very Summery and I am loving it. Well, I am gonna feed The Kobester and Black Kitty now, but I'll be back after I get home.

That's us under that tree. I Love You, Elizabeth! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :):)

7:05pm : I am home, my Darling. It's a beautiful evening out, but still pretty warm so I will wait a while to do my walk. So watcha gonna do for the 4th? Are you guys going anywhere? I see that nice weather is forecast for your area, so whatever you do, you can count on that. Fireworks by the lake, maybe? I saw your post about the raptors yesterday, and I sure hope nobody will blow off any fireworks near the birds, or any other critters. Here in Southern California, they have been really cracking down, especially because of our drought. The cops and firefighters have been on TV saying there is a no-tolerance policy for personal fireworks possession or use, and I am glad. There are enough shows people can go to that are run by the pros, and those shows are more awesome anyway. I will be going up to the Shepherd Of The Hills church, as I have been doing for about the last ten years, ever since they stopped having a show at CSUN. It's a mega-show at the church, thousands of people every year. And, it just happens to be right across the road from the Limekiln Canyon trailhead, something I didn't know until I discovered Limekiln last week. So maybe I will go for a quick hike before the show starts.

Now I will take my shoes off and relax for a little bit, and then put 'em back on later. Go, Ad, go! :)

I Love You, Sweet Baby!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :):)
(back in a bit)

11:30pm : My Girl, that was such a beautiful thing to post. What a wonderful message in those words. I am happy for your friends, the couple in the picture, but I am also especially happy for us because the words apply to you and me. I am so thankful for you, Elizabeth. Meeting you was a Miracle for me, and our love has been an ongoing blessing ever since, a blessing that I thank God for every day.

July 7th will be our second anniversary, and I will always remember the feeling I had on the night of that full moon, when we both posted Debussy.........so powerful, like a direct connection to you through our hearts and thoughts. I remember my walk that night, and stopping to look at the moon.

The feeling was so powerful that I knew I had to tell you how I felt. It was a little nerve-wracking, but there was simply no way I could not. And now here we are! It is kind of amazing the way life puts things together for people, but people must believe in the magic of life, and that's why I talk about it so much.

It is so very heartwarming to see people like the couple in your post, who love each other so much, and who celebrate and believe in love, and are thankful for it, and for each other.

You are my Miracle and I Love You. It was such a beautiful night tonight.

I can't wait to photograph butterflies with you, my Angel, and I am so happy for the feeling we are in, and for these days, these experiences we are sharing, such wonderful times they are.

Wednesday Love :):) (Fun Couple Of Days)

Hey my Funny Girl,

I see you took Goofy up on his suggestion this morning, and I am glad you take your Goofiness seriously! :)
As you saw, I did another trail this morn. I found the Hummingbird trail in a Google search; it's on the Simi Valley side of the Santa Susanas, and as you can see by my pictures, I certainly did not go up any of those sidewinder trails that run up the hillside. No thanks! That's for Chumash Indians only. I did get about a half mile in, with a few mild twists and turns, but now that I've seen it I don't need to do that one again.

I'm glad Corriganville was so close, just a little ways down the road, so I stopped and it was as magical as always. The trees pose for me there. :)

I like doing my hikes early, cause then it feels like I had a blast and the day isn't even half over yet! Try having a blast early in the day, then the day feels extra long.....

I hope you are having a great afternoon. Are you at Summerfest? If so, then you are having a blast. That's cool that Paul's band are playing there, he's got good connections from his Last Crack days. That's also cool for you, as they are using your photo as their promo shot. Well, if you are there, have fun. I am gonna head back to Pearl's in about an hour, and I will be around either here or there most of the rest of the day, because I only have to do a measly two miles this eve (just like last night, haha).

I Love You, my Baby!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

11:25pm : Well, that was a fun two days. Even though some of the trails didn't pan out because of the difficulty, it was still exciting to discover them. I am having so much fun, because as I have said, I've lived in the Valley all my life and had never really given a thought to all the surrounding nature.

Until now. And it's been great.

I hope you had fun at the Summerfest. I imagine you are back by now, though I know Milwaukee is a long ways away.

Tomorrow when I take Pearl to the hair salon, I will be going, too. I haven't gotten a haircut since February, and my hair is at it's longest since the early 90s, but the problem is that it's just too doggone unruly at this length and requires too much maintainance. If I were to let it go for another year, and it got enough weight to hang down instead of curling up and going outwards, then it would be easy to deal with. But right now, I will get it cut to more of a moderate length.

And then I will let it grow again for six months!

That's all I know for tonight, my Baby. I Love You and will see you in the morning.

Tuesday Trailin' (Two Birds)

Good Evening, Awesome Lady,

Today was a big trail day, as you probably saw on FB. I had been to Santa Susana State Park before, last Fall I think, but this time I wanted to try a different entrance (or "trailhead" as they call them), so I started a mile further down from the one I went to last time. Both trails are nice, but from what I have seen there is not much shade in the whole park. The pic I got was taken in one of the few shady spots I could find. Anyway, it was getting pretty hot out there, so I hiked back to the car and drove over to Limekiln Canyon, about 3 miles away. All the spots I go to in the Santa Susanas, from Garden Of The Gods, to El Scorpion, to Limekiln, Devil and Aliso Canyons are all within about 5 miles of each other. Corriganville is a bit farther, about 12 miles away, and Placerita is about 15 miles. But anyway, I drove back to Limekiln and there was plenty of shade in there. I went in from the North trailhead this time, and it was a nice hike so I went a mile in and then back.

So, between the two trails I already got 3 miles in today. That means I have it easy tonight! :)

I actually drove to a third trail, between Santa Susana Park and Limekiln, called Lilac Lane trail. It's located up in those rocky hills you see in some of my pics (those are the Santa Susanas), and it looks like an awesome trail with a lot of scenery. The only problem is that, never having been there before, I didn't know where to park. It's not exactly like regular city streets up there, and I wanted to be sure I wasn't parking on anyone's private property, so I'll go back to that one when I can find out that info.

Anyway, now I'm all Trailed Out! For the moment, anyway. I will try to find more for tomorrow morn, when Pearl is at Reseda Women's Club.

I hope you are enjoying the first day of July, always a great month. I saw The Oatmeal's post, and you know, I was always the same way. Most of my life I had to sort of make myself eat a piece of fruit. I didn't dislike any particular fruit, it's just that I always preferred spicy food and crunchier stuff. Fruit is sweet, but like everybody else, my sweet tooth was driven by cravings for refined sugar products: candy bars, donuts, pastries, ice cream.

Especially ice cream. :)

But then, when I started to change over to the No Fun Diet, little by little over a period of about the last five years, I wanted to get as much refined sugar out of my diet as possible, and I did a mind-over-matter deal on that, and it unfortunately worked!

So, as much as I love candy bars, etc. (and I ate enough in my life to fund a company), I don't eat too many sugary things any more. My diet is supposed to be healthy, and that specifically means No Fun, so candy and cake and ice cream are disqualified (except for the proverbial "Once In A Great While").

But what about fruit? Is fruit No Fun? I figured it was. And it was also sugary.......well, sort of. But all kidding aside, the problem was that I just had never craved the stuff as an adult (and when you're are kid you kind of don't know any better, and even then most kids will still trade an apple for a cookie at lunchtime).

I never craved the stuff, but I knew it was good for me, and it has unrefined, natural sugar, which metabolises more slowly (so no crash-and-burn), and I knew, now that I was on the No Fun diet for real, that I should start eating fruit on a daily basis, so.......about two years ago I did the old mind-over-matter thing again, and I started forcing myself to eat fruit every day. It wasn't a torture, because fruit is pleasant, but if you don't crave it you know what I mean.

Anyway, I had already been eating blueberries with my oatmeal every morning, so I started having a banana as part of my lunch (potassium), and little by little I have started mixing in apples and oranges, and once in a while some peaches and pears. For a nice, sugary rush, I like to have about 3 or 4 dates. Gross when you're a kid (dates or figs) but delicious when you're an adult! Yep, dates are like the candy of the No Fun diet.

So nowdays, I went from never eating any fruit two years ago (and much of my adult life) to having about a half cup of blueberries every morn, and my banana at lunchtime, my dates at teatime, and then an apple or orange maybe three times a week, whenever the mood hits me.

And, lots and lots of watermelon in the Summer. Watermelon is the ice cream of fruit!

Now in your case, since you are twenty-one, you can still get away without eating any fruit for a while, probably for many years, in fact. But, if you can train (meaning "force") yourself to eat some once in a while, it might surprise you and become a regular part of your diet. That's what happened to me, anyway, after years of living basically on chips and salsa. :)

Well, that's enough rambling from me for the moment. I get to take it easy for most of the evening, and then later I will go out and finish a measly two miles (a piece of cake, to continue the sugar metaphor).

And then I will be back at the usual time. I Love You, my Baby.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

11:25pm : Listening to the Handel, played with beautiful understatement by Alicia de Larrocha who was one of my Dad's favorites. I loved the picture you posted earlier, from Wisconsin Wildlife Photographers. That's Us, symbolised in nature. You know, while I was at Santa Susana, two red-tail hawks flew over and landed in a tree that I was trying to photograph. I got distracted because I wanted to now photograph them, and of course they flew off within seconds of landing. I would love to capture some hawks close up, and also I would love to especially capture some butterflies in flight, in one of the shadowy tree coves I like to photograph. Ultimately I will need an SLR with telephoto lens for stuff like that, but for the moment I am having fun with my little Panasonic.

Tomorrow I will go out again because Pearl has a crafts meeting. Not sure where yet, but I will know as I go.

You will be coming along, you know. I take you with me on all my trips.

And everywhere I go.

But especially when I go someplace magical, and I go to those places a lot.

More and more and more, since I met you.

I Love You, Elizabeth. I will see you in the morning and we will have a wonderful day.
