Thursday Night Love

Happy Late Night, my Darling,

Tonight was the next-to-last week of the Orson Welles retrospective at CSUN, and we saw "F For Fake", which was actually his last movie. Next week, for the final screening, we are gonna see a documentary about Welles. "F For Fake" was really fun and interesting. It's not a dramatic movie but a real life story of an art forger named Elmyr de Hory, who created fake paintings of the great masters, and whose fakes now apparently sit in galleries all over the world. The movie goes further, because the man who wrote a famous book about Elmyr - author Clifford Irving - was himself also a fake. He wrote another book about the diary of Howard Hughes, whom he claimed to know, that turned out to be a fake story in itself, and he was arrested and went to prison.

So in the movie, Welles explores the nature of what is fake and what isn't, as it relates to art. To me, if you can recreate a masterpiece, that's fine and a talent in itself. Just don't represent it as being by the original artist, because then you are deceiving the whole world. After seeing this movie, I will feel uneasy in art galleries for a while. But the movie itself is excellent, and totally Welles.

I hope you had a nice day. I wasn't able to see any posts, but I am looking forward to whatever you've got coming up.

I Love You and will see you in the morning.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxo  :):)
