Friday Odds & Ends (The Medium)

Good Evening, Sweet Baby,

Happy Friday and definitely TGIF. :) I am at home, just been cleaning and reading. Now my apt. will be nice and neat when I get home tonight, so I can relax and enjoy my night and morning sleep-in without having to do a ton of dishes. Oh boy! Nothing major to report, no hikes or anything. It might as well be Summer here; we're still doing 90 degrees. Except for the angle of the light and the early darkness, you'd never know the difference. No complaints from me, of course.

I hope you had a great day and are enjoying the start of your weekend. I believe tomorrow is your event, for the VHS tape project, do I have that right? Have a blast if so! I don't know what is happening yet for me tomorrow, dunno if Vickie is coming over or not. Monday is Judas Priest, and you know I am excited about that one. I've only seen them twice since 1986! After that, they had some band problems and didn't tour as much, and then Rob Halford left the band for 15 years, from 1990 to 2005. I saw them on their comeback tour that year, and then again in 2009, which was the last tour with KK Downing in the band. But back in the late 70s and through the mid-80s, they played all the time, and were one of the most powerful live acts you could ever see. This might be the last time they tour, so I'm glad I have a ticket. :)

That reminds me, did you get to go to the Opeth/Alcest concert? I hope so! I know they were gonna play in Milano and maybe Rome, too. You probably would have posted if you went, but I hope you did get to go. I don't know what the school rules are about travelling, leaving the grounds, etc. Anyhow, if you didn't get to go, you will see them when you come back. Neige never stops touring, and for that matter, neither does Mikael. I will be seeing Opeth on December 9, at the Hollywood Palladium, and I am sure Alcest will be here by Spring or so.

Well, my Darling, that's all I know for the moment. I will be here til about 3:30, then I am gonna leave a little bit early so I can stop by the recycling center before I go to Pearl's. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

I Love You and You Rule!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

12:15am: Good Morning, Beautiful Artist Lady! Today will be fun cause you are going to your art project exhibit. I think his idea of using a magnetic field as a medium is great, a way to tap in to the aether. I am listening to a sonata by Scriabin, a guy who certainly tapped in! His music sounds like he was in a trance while he composed, it's really unique. It's just the right thing for tonight as I wind down from a work cycle.

I like the Autumn pictures you've been posting, and I am thinking that a certain feeling runs through many of them, a sense of being woven into the tapestry of nature, and yet somehow affecting it, as an actor. One who acts upon something.

Many of the photos you have posted feature a person set within a natural landscape of one form or another, and in that case a theme is developed, of the person (often a young lady) acting as an actor, or conduit of nature. An interpreter for nature, perhaps. It is interesting that humans are the only animals with an intelligence that grew to become outside of nature, and there must be a reason for that, and I think the reason is because we can perceive something beyond nature, beyond the physical medium. So that is often the sense I get, as an underlying message in some of these photos. Human As Actor, In Nature. Now, I mean "actor" as in "one who acts upon", rather than a dramatic actor. I don't know if the photographers mean such a connotation, but the settings in which they sometimes present their models are interesting.

You yourself are connected to the same awareness, and you will tap in to something unique that is calling you - and believe me, there is something specific that is calling you, artistically. Remember that when you photograph anything in the world, you are tapping into a medium. And there is, within that medium that exists all around you, an awareness (or maybe awarenesses, plural) that know you are trying to tap in, to see something beautiful, to capture something unique. Something your own.

Within the medium is something that will form a one-on-one relationship with you, as an Artist. Because the physical medium loves the dedicated Artist, one who wishes to get to know it, and to know what it really is. Always remember, as a photographer, or filmmaker, or painter, that it wants to show you things.

It wants to, and it wants to because it understands that humans are both part of, and separated from, nature. And so it wants to show you what you want to see.

I will leave it at that for tonight, but you know what I mean.

Have an awesome day, my Darling. I will see you in the morn, maybe an hour or two later than usual, depending on the ability of the sleep-in........

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)
