Happy Sunday Love (late night love & movies)

Good Evening, Sweet Baby,

I am home from Pearl's. When I got there, I saw your Sweet Baby post and I loved, loved, loved it! It made my day, in fact. I hope your day was good and that you are enjoying your evening. We had a good morning in church and choir, and we got some good news about our director, who had successful surgery. She still has to undergo a lot of treatment, so her ordeal isn't over, but they think they caught her cancer early, so that's a blessing.

We sang real well, too, and I always have fun practicing afterwards as well.

Now, I am gonna meet my friend Dave F. for a walk. I will be back later on at Pearl's, but I wanted to check in and tell you I Love You.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

(see you in a bit)

Midnight : It's Sweet Dreams time, so I'm just checking in to send them to you, my Darling. I am tired tonight, did an extra mile on the walk. My friend Dave brought his daughter along and we went down to the duck pond at the Orange Grove. It's finally Summer weather, upper 80s today and no more overcast. Yay!

I forgot to mention today's movie. I am temporarily out of Westerns, but I watched a great Film Noir called "The Street With No Name" from 1948, starring a guy named Mark Stevens, who had a pretty long career and was also in the classic "insane asylum" flick "The Snake Pit". When I was a kid, that's what they called 'em - "Insane Asylums", an unfortunate term for a mental institution that also scared the heck out of little kids like me, haha. Anyway, "The Snake Pit" is a classic, and today's movie was pretty good too, the story of an FBI agent working undercover to infiltrate a criminal gang headed by Richard Widmark, who is in sinister mode in this one. Widmark is one of my favorite actors from that era, and he was in a lot of classic Film Noirs himself, often as a psychotic criminal, his specialty.

I love Film Noir, and my all-time favorite in the genre is "Laura" starring Gene Tierney. But there's a bunch of good ones, and the Film Noir genre is always worth checking out for classic, shadowy black and white photography.

See you in the morning, Sweet Baby! I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Late Night Love & Bands & Concerts

Happy Late Night, my Darling,

I hope you had a nice Saturday. I saw your Ultrea post a little while ago, and so maybe you went to see them in Illinois? Just guessing. I Googled Barrington Hills, and it says it's 40 miles northwest of Chicago, so perhaps you made a road trip. But even if not, I hope you had a nice night.

You know, there are several up and coming bands with female lead singers now. In the L.A.club scene, bands like Dead Sara are playing all the time. There are others, too (names escape me at the moment), but that configuration - of a hard rock band, with pop elements but a dark side too, with a female lead singer - is growing in popularity. I see Ultrea is doing a tour of the Midwest. And they have their EP coming out. If they can get some radio play in the area, that could be an excellent development for you. Just a thought, but an important one....  :)

Once June comes up, I have a few concerts to go to myself : possibly to see Todd Rundgren next week at the Roxy. Todd is one of my very favorite artists, all-time Top Ten for me, but I haven't seen him live since 1990! His output for the last 25 years has been uneven, but he was so incredible in the 1970s as to cement his incredibleness forever, haha. Also coming up is Agalloch on June 9th. Already got my ticket for that one. Grim is coming with me. It will be my third Agalloch show since 2012. I am always up front and center for when John brings out the tree stumps and lights the incense, so hopefully I will make it up there this time, too. Lastly, I've got Steven Wilson on June 13. I've seen him twice before, also since 2012, and twice with Porcupine Tree as well. He always puts on an amazing show, so I am super looking forward to that one.

It's been quiet on the concert front for a while, but it's about to pick up now that Summer is here.

Well, that's all for tonight. Tomorrow is church and choir. Hopefully we will get some good news about our director. Can't wait to sing in the morning.

I Love You and send you Sweet Dreams, and I will see you in the morning as well.

Happy Friday Night Love (sweet dreams & Milky Way)

Hi Sweet Baby,

I am home from Pearl's and just wanted to wish you a good start to your weekend. Grimsley is gonna come over in a little while, at 7:45. He wants to show me some tape of the final Letterman show, or something. With Grim it's almost always late night comedy stuff. Anyway, we'll see what he brings. This afternoon, I continued my Western kick with "The Bravados" (1958) starring Gregory Peck as a man out to find the killers of his wife. I'll put Peck up there with Randolph Scott and Jimmy Stewart as a top notch Western Hero, and this movie was excellent, with beautiful Cinemascope photography and what appeared to be Arizona or Texas scenery. I'm on a roll lately with my movies......   :)

I saw a couple of your posts, one of your friend's selfie. I got a kick out of her reference to Myspace, except I didn't get why the picture itself was so Myspace-looking. But I miss Myspace! I mean, I love FB (except when they mess up our communication, doggonnit!), but I also really liked Myspace, the way you could customise it, and just kind of have more of a one-on-one with people. Plus, it's where I wrote to you for the first year, so it has a special place in my heart just for that reason.

I hope you are enjoying your Friday night, perhaps at the studio, or with friends? Even if you are just doing something alone, that's still awesome. That's me, 90% of the time, and I don't mind too much. As long as it is interesting, it doesn't matter if you're alone or with friends. Except for Disneyland, the only place you absolutely cannot go alone.

So you've gotta come with me.  :):)

Well, I will do part of my walk now, and then wait for Grim to come over. Then I will be back later tonight at the usual time. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Hi, my Darling. I am here in Pearl's kitchen and all is quiet. Did you have a nice evening? I hung out with Grim for a while, watched the Letterman tape he brought. I forgot to mention that I hope you had a nice time at the cinema showcase yesterday.

In the picture you posted of the Wisconsin night sky the other night, I also forgot to mention the awesome sight of the Milky Way. I know you are close to Madison, a fair-sized city, but can you see a lot of stars in the night sky, or even a bit of the Milky Way? I have never seen it, but I imagine it would be pretty amazing.

That's all for tonight, my girl. After next week, I have five days off, so that will be nice.

For now, Sweet Dreams and I will see you in the morning.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

My Goodness! (That too?!) :) (sweet dreams) (night sky)

Hi my Darling,

I am just getting home from Pearl's hair appointment. I saw your portrait of Stephane a few minutes ago, and my reaction was "Holy Smokes! She can do that, too"?! Now lemme get this straight - I already knew you could sing, play piano, write music, take excellent photographs and make professional videos, but......

.....you're telling me you can draw on a professional level as well? My Goodness! Who knew?

Girl, that is an amazing portrait. All the shading, the three-dimensionality, the shine on the boots. Everything. So, you really are an all-around Artist, and all this time I did not know you could draw like that. Boy, are you ever glad now that you got your art certificate and changed your major. You have apparently had natural artistic talent from the word "go".

"Impressed" barely covers it for me. Now, I didn't push the "like" button on FB because I figure it's for you and Stephane. I mean, that part I don't know about, and I only say that because it's "baby" Stephane, and I am always posting "baby" this and "baby" that (in songs), and I know Stephane was originally your Baby. I assume he is maybe home from school? Anyway, once again because of our extremely limited form of communication, I have no way of knowing many things, and one of those things could be - only supposing here - if you and Stephane are together?

I know, I know - I've said that before and you have replied that you guys are just friends. But I only say that this time because it's "Baby" Stephane that you posted, and if you are trying to tell me something, I understand. All I would ask, if that's the case, would be for you to please make it clear, so that I will know.

I love you no matter what the situation is, even if Stephane is your baby.  :)

But the main thing is the picture, and your heretofore unknown (by me) drawing talent. My Goodness, girl!

Supertalented!

I am around all day on Usual Schedule, minus my walk at Usual Time.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

(back in a bit)

Midnight : Just checking in for Sweet Dreams. This afternoon I did see another post you made, maybe late last night, of a photo of a sky full of stars, so maybe you posted that at Sweet Dreams time, just guessing. The blue highlight trick is what I use to find posts by you that I miss in the newsfeed, ever since FB curtailed most of the posts they used to include in the Close Friends feature. But a lot of times, your posts don't show up in the blue highlight feature (actually called "posts You like") until much later after you've originally posted 'em.

All of which is to say that I sometimes see your posts a day or so after you've made them. Others come up right away. Anyhow, I will keep doing my best if you want me to.

I still don't know what the deal is with the Baby situation. I'm just wondering, cause I see that Stephane has your drawing in his profile photo now, so I just wonder if the drawing signifies something. You'd tell me, right? After all these years and all these blogs, I hope you would. And believe me, Elizabeth, I will understand if that is the case. I know that in general, your posts have fallen off a great deal, so if you have lost interest in me, it's okay to say so. I will still write, whatever the case may be. Please let me know.

You are an awesome lady.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Sweet Dreams.

12:45am : a re-check in, just to say "I think I get it". Last night, I posted a song called "Under The Stars Of Love", and so now I see what your post meant, of the photo of the night sky with all the stars. No further explanations are necessary.  :):)

I Love You, Elizabeth.

Late Night Love + Madison Music Scene, etc.

Happy Late Night, my Darling,

I only keep posting so late just because things feel like they're kind of on the back-burner, and you aren't on FB much. I understand, so no worries, and I know you are busy with projects and life in general. All I ever ask is that if you're sick of me or think I'm getting boring (or for any other reason) please just let me know.

I did see the one post you made, about the Ultrea event, the release party. Might that be around the same time your video will be debuted? I hope so. I am really looking forward to seeing it. Did you see the FB post I "liked", earlier this morning, about the Madison music scene? It came from the Prog Rock UK radio station, a pretty major site for music in England. Their FB is https://www.facebook.com/progrock?fref=ts and the url for the Madison article is http://www.channel3000.com/madison-magazine/arts-culture/tune-in-to-madisons-music-scene/33220640 .

It was fairly in depth and really cool. And girl, you are stepping right into that scene with your work. Remember everything we've said about intent? Well this is how it works, in action!

Willpower and intent are huge psychic forces, and the world is mostly psychic. This is because the mind runs at full speed for about 16 hours out of every day, the mind projects who you are, it is constantly receiving input about how you are perceived, and then you - in turn - output that reception back to people, in the form of charisma and talent. And also Intent.

"My Intent is to create and to work in the visual and musical arts. You can count on me for good work".

This is what you are projecting 24/7/365, and because other minds are also running for 16 hours a day, people pick up on who you are and what you are about.

This is why we've talked about quiet confidence. Quiet confidence is the art of projecting to influence a desired outcome. It is focus and Intent, and now we are seeing it in action.

You "think" your life, and that is what your life becomes. It becomes exactly what you think it is, as long as you project that quiet confidence and stay focused on your Intent.

You seem to be a natural at it, so I'll shut up now, lol.

Anyhow, I hope you had a great day. I will see you in the morning, so Sweet Dreams until then.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Late Night Love & Films

Hi, my Darling,

It's another late night check-in by me, just cause I had nothing to report and I figured you were busy. I did see your post a few minutes ago, for the UW film showcase. I am glad you are keeping a hand in the department at the University, and attending events. Would you like to make films as well as music videos? I mean, I know you've already made your Prairie Burns documentary and your other personal short videos combined with your music, but would you like to make traditional films as well, like say a short dramatic (or purely cinematic) piece?

It might be fun to just think of ideas for a script, even if you have no immediate plans in that direction. Just to get the wheels turning, you know?

It's great to have different ideas percolating all the time, even if you just keep 'em in your head.

I actually did watch a movie today, while Pearl was at Golden Agers. I am on a Western kick (as previously reported) and I found a great one from 1958 called "Ride The High Country" by Sam Peckinpaugh, who also made "The Wild Bunch", a film that I don't think is all that great, despite it's reputation. But today's film was excellent, and featured some spectacular photography of the California landscape in Inyo County, out near Death Valley.

One thing I recommend, and it's something I wish I had started as early as possible, is just to write stuff down all the time. Ideas, notes, thoughts, anything. I mean, look at me now, haha. I write pretty much every day, and even when it's just "my daily routine" I'm reporting, or even if it's a bunch of jibberish, the main thing is that it's written down. And you never know when an idea is gonna pop out of your writing.

Also, very important to remember that your Writing Voice is different than your Speaking Voice. Much, much different in fact. Writing voice comes from pure thought, from silence, and so you never know what thought will pop up.

Anyway, I think it's great that you are keeping a hand in things. It's clear that your peers and fellow cineastes think highly of you. But yeah, keep ideas percolating and write things down. Be your own client as well as seeking out clients.

Just a few thoughts for tonight. I am always looking for your posts, and I hope I'm not missing any.

That's all I know for tonight.

I Love You and wish you Sweet Dreams.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Sweet Dreams

Happy Late Night, my Darling,

I'm just checking in to wish you Sweet Dreams. It was a quiet Memorial Day for me, just some shopping mostly. I didn't make it up to the Pioneer Cemetery observance. Pearl wakes up so often in the middle of the night lately that sleep is a precarious thing, most often something I have to catch up on later in the morning.

At any rate, I can still manage. I stopped by the Greek Festival, too, after my shopping, but they are charging admission now for the first time in 30 years, so I didn't go in. It was only three bucks, but for me it was more the fact of just getting charged, when I only wanted to see the church, and the fact that it had always been free in the past. None of the other churches ever charge for any of their festivals, so.......I didn't go.

No biggie.

I hope your day was good. I saw your post a day or two ago for your friend's band, playing at a Bratfest (or something along those lines), so I figured you might be at that, maybe shooting bands. And, I saw your post of your friend Morgin's picture.

Anyhow, I just hope things are going good. I will see you in the morning.

I Love You, Elizabeth. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Sunday Afternoon Love (sweet dreams)

Hi, my Darling,

I am home from choir. Today we sang "Peace In The Valley" and it sounded pretty good. You know I love the Elvis version, so it was fun for me. We all signed a card for our director, too. She had surgery this week, so hopefully she will be on the road to good health soon.

I saw your post for Les Discrets. So, maybe you are saying - if you saw yesterday's blog - that in fact Tyrone Power is not the Handsomest Man In Hollywood History, lol, but instead it is George Clooney! If so, I'd be hard-pressed to argue with you. I also forgot to mention that Don Ameche was in yesterday's movie, too, and he was no slouch either, so there was a bit of a "handsome off" between him and Ty Power.

But Clooney may top 'em all.

As for Fursy's logo : "Lovers facing death", well all I can say is - if it's us - then death is toast.  :):)

I hope he puts out another LD album one of these days. I know he's been working on one for quite a while now.........

Yeah, I know........I'm a Goofy Individual. You don't have to tell me, haha.  :)

One thing that was weird just now : when I got back and turned on my computer, I saw the name of the Indy 500 winner, and I thought : "OMG! I didn't even remember it was gonna be on"! If you know me, that's really unusual, not only for me to miss watching it, but to forget that it was even the day of the race......

I must be losing a few marbles. That, or it's because my Sunday focus has become choir and church. And because I am working all the time and hardly know what day it is.....  :)

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. I am gonna hang out for about an hour or so, then I've gotta head back out to do some shopping. Other than that, it's Usual Schedule.

I hope all projects are coming along well, too.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

(back in a bit)

Midnight : Just checking in to wish you Sweet Dreams. I hope your weekend is going well. Tomorrow I may drive up to Pioneer Cemetery in Sylmar, as I did last year, to watch the Memorial Day service. It begins at 11am, so it will depend a lot on how well I am able to sleep tonight. The sleeping situation has not been good for several nights running, but fingers are crossed for tonight, and all is quiet for the moment. I will probably also stop by the annual Greek Festival at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which is always held on Memorial Day Weekend for about 30 years running. I stop by every year, just to see the inside of their church, and to watch the Greek dancing.

The Sun came out today! Yippee!! But whether it will stay out is anybody's guess......

Sleep well, my Baby, and I will see you in the morning.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Sweet Dreams.

Saturday Evening Love

Hi my Darling,

I'm just getting home from Pearl's. Hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend. I figure you are probably with friends or relatives, or maybe even on a road trip. I know sometimes in the past you guys (you, bro & Mom) have gone on a short trip to the lake or to a park. Anyhow, that's why I didn't post until now, and I had nothing to report yesterday.

This afternoon, I did watch a great movie from 1937, "In Old Chicago", starring Tyrone Power (who may have been the handsomest man in Hollywood history, lol). It was the story of the O'Leary family and their lives in Chicago politics, in the years leading up to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The special effects are pretty amazing for 1937, especially the fire, which looks like the real deal, and which was done two years before the burning of Atlanta in "Gone With The Wind". "In Old Chicago" is probably one of the first disaster films and was really well done, including the script which dealt with crooked politics of the era.

Other than that, just workin' as always. Still Winter in Los Angeles, haha. Stupid overcast, it just won't leave!

Have a blast, whatever you're doing for the weekend. I'll be on usual schedule, and back later tonight.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Another Great One! :) (My Friend Jon)

Good Evening, my Darling,

I am getting ready to go for my walk, but I just wanted to check in and say hi before doing so. I love your new profile picture! I'll tell ya, you have gotta be one of the best self-portraitists around. I don't know how you do it, but you get great pictures and poses every time, and each one unique, too. Really great stuff, Elizabeth. Plus, you are expert with makeup. A successful future is hereby predicted! Not just for the selfies, but for all your work and cumulative talents. :)

Well, I'd better don a sweatshirt cause it's freezing outside, during what seems like Winter here in Los Angeles. These clouds have been parked here for what feels like eternity. Please, Mr. Weatherman, bring us some Sun and heat.........

Here I go anyway! Back in a bit, and then usual schedule all night.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Midnight : Happy Late Night, Sweet Baby. I dunno if you are around tonight, but if you are, then maybe you saw the video post I shared about my friend Jon? He's the runner I've mentioned in the past, but I've also known him from the days of College Records, back when there were record stores. I've known Jon since 1973, so that's 42 years now, and among other bands, he was the guy who introduced me to Rush. The first time I ever heard their music, in Summer 1976, was at his apartment. If you've seen my photos of Steven Tyler (in my "photos from the past" album on FB), those were taken at a 1982 interview at the Beverly Hills Hotel that Jon invited me to, knowing I was a photographer. He is also a rock journalist. I even had lunch once with Ozzy Osbourne, courtesy of Jon, who invited me on that interview as well, in 1983.

Jon has had a big influence on my life, and he's also the inspiration behind my daily 5 mile walk. I used to be overweight (coming off substance abuse), and in 1999 I decided to do something about it. I thought of Jon and I thought, "well, I can't run 10 or 15 miles every day like he does, but I bet I can do 5". Originally, I used to run five miles, and I did that until 2004. But not everybody is Jon Sutherland, and my knees were hurting, so my run became a walk.

But like Jon, I still do it everyday! :)

So now you know how that started, haha.

When I think of Jon, I think of running, for sure, but I also, and equally, think of rock n' roll. Jon has introduced me to so much music, all starting when I was just a kid, just 13 years old.

He was already four years into his consecutive days running streak at that time, and he's still going, 42 more years later.

That blows my mind, because it seems like just a few years, and it also seems like 42.

The elasticity of time, as we've talked about.

But mostly, Jon has been a huge inspiration to me for the main thing I talk about, living life on your own terms. And never ever giving up on your dreams.

In the news video I posted, Jon says, "Running is not something I do - it's what I am".

That's the whole deal in a nutshell, to be What You Are. I am glad to have known Jon all these years, and to have had other influences like him.

Because there's literally no substitute for being Who You Are. Nothing else is really You.

And what I've discovered, thanks in part to Jon and others, is that, to succeed in Being Yourself, all you've gotta do is keep doing it.

That's why I tell you that all the time, lol. :)

It's what Jon does; he's a runner, so he runs every single day. He "be's himself".

That's all there is to it, to living life, and that's all I know for tonight.

I Love You, Elizabeth! Everything is going great.

Sweet Dreams.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Whitney Canyon Today + Love (late night love)

Good Evening, my Darling,

I'm at home, just chillin'. I had a great hike today in Newhall, back to a place called Whitney Canyon that I had only been to a single time, last Summer. The one time I was there, I saw a deer. Anyway, I thought I'd try it again, just for something different, and man does it ever have a great vibe. Super ghostly! There are big old crows in there, flying from tree to tree. Great shadows. I will definitely be visiting again.

I hope you had a nice day too, and I'll bet you were busy working on one project or another. Right now I am just gonna review my pics from today and maybe read for a while. I only have to do a short walk because I did three miles in the canyon (round trip).

The Rolling Stones are playing tonight at a small theater here called The Fonda (for Henry Fonda), and it was a big scramble this morning for everyone trying to get tickets. I didn't even hear about it until it was already sold out, but that's okay. I love The Stones but it's not imperative that I see them. Grimsley is down there, and I think my brother is too, both trying to score tix.

Anyhow, usual schedule as usual. I'll be here til 10pm, then at Pearl's.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

12:35am : Happy Super Late Night, my Baby. I am late because it took a while to get everybody situated. But now all is quiet (yay!), and I am listening to the Richter/Rachmaninoff that I posted on FB. Many people consider Richter to be the greatest pianist ever. I am only now coming to appreciate him, and he is fantastic. My favorites are still Kempff and Lipatti, though. They both had The Incomparable Touch.....

Well, 'twas a good day, with my hike in the enchanted Whitney Canyon. No movies today, but I will try to watch one in the next day or two. Hope you had a nice day as well.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Everything Looks Awesome! (Fingers Crossed For Sleep + Westerns + Sweet Dreams)

Good Evening, my Darling,

I am home from Pearl's and was napping for a few minutes just now. Pearl's waking and sleeping hours are unfortunately turned around backwards again, so I was up for most of the night last night. Surprisingly, I wasn't as toast as I thought I'd be today, but it's catching up with me now. Hopefully tonight we can get things back in their proper order, and night will be for sleeping once again, haha.

Anyway, everything looks great! I saw all your posts today, and not only does your cover shot look good (and I'm assuming it's a still from the video), but it looks like you have another band video lined up right away, too. Great news! It seems that all the bands are happy with your work and excited to be working with you, so that's also great in a word-of-mouth way. Bands will tell other bands that you are talented and dependable, etc., and word will get around.

Man, I am thinking "how cool is this"?!, that you are getting so much work right out of the starting gate after finishing art school. It's fun to watch, for sure. I, like all the band members, can't wait to see the new video. :)

Well, I am on Usual Schedule, so I will go for my walk in just a few. Then I will be back at Pearl's at the usual time. I should have a second wind by then, to stay awake til my normal hour. Then hopefully, everybody will sleep through the entire night.

That's all for now. I'm super proud of you! Everything is going great!

Also..........as you may have guessed..........I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

(back in a bit)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, my Darling. All is quiet at the moment, and I am praying it will stay that way, lol. Not much else to report from today, except that I watched yet another classic Western this afternoon. I know Westerns are a Guy Thing, but this one was so good, one of the best I've seen. It is called "The Tin Star", starring Anthony Perkins and Henry Fonda, about a greenhorn Sheriff and the older, tougher bounty hunter who helps him learn the ropes of how to deal with the town's bad guys. Great stuff, of course!

It was directed by the great Anthony Mann, who had some of the greatest landscape cinematography in his Westerns, and this time it looked like he might have used some SoCal locations. It was shot in black & white, which made the whole thing just about perfect. :)

If all goes well tonight, with a full night's sleep, then tomorrow I may try for a hike, maybe even a Santa Clarita or Newhall one. But we'll see. Fingers crossed........

I Love You and send you Sweet Dreams, and I'll bet you are gonna have an excellent day tomorrow, too. See you in the morning, Sweet Baby!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Happy Late Night

Hi Elizabeth,

I'm just checking in to wish you a Happy Late Night and Sweet Dreams. I saw your post in the news feed just a minute ago, so maybe you were at a concert with your friend's band, Ultrea? If so, I hope you had fun, and also hope your video is coming out well. I am always looking out for your posts in the FB feed, but that was the only one I found. FB has really messed things up.

Just an ordinary day for me, though I did watch a nice creepy little potboiler from 1949, called "House By The River", from director Fritz Lang. He made some major league films, including "Metropolis", "M", and the "Dr. Mabuse" series. "House By The River" was made as his career was winding down, and thus was considered a "B" picture, but it's a minor classic in my opinion, and it features some stunning film noir black and white photography. As you know, I am always on the lookout for obscure, well made films that I've never seen, and I was lucky to find this one.

Well, that's all I know for tonight. I will see you in the morning.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Sunday Love + Choir (sweet dreams)

Good Afternoon, my Darling,

I am home from choir and just relaxing for a bit before I go for part of my walk. We sang really well today, which is always a nice feeling. Unfortunately, we got some difficult news as well. Our choir director wasn't there, the reason being that she had felt some pain in her arm during the week, and when she went to see the doctor, a lump was found. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer. We are all praying for her and hoping they caught it early so she can make a full recovery. She is a really nice lady who has been with the church since 1977, on top of which she is a professor at USC's Colburn School Of Music. She really knows her stuff, and for me - well, she's the one who got me singing (even though I protested at first), and singing has turned out to be one of my most favorite things to do. She may not be back with us for a while - weeks or months according to someone close to the situation. But we are all hoping she will come back healthy, which is the only important thing.

So that was today. We are learning new songs, though, and in a week or two we will sing "(Let There Be) Peace In The Valley", which has all kinds of rise-and-fall harmonies and sharps and flats; it's a toughie, and I will be listening to the legendary Elvis Presley version for inspiration.

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. I will go for part of my walk in a few minutes, then leave a little early to stop at the store before going back to Pearl's.

See you in a bit - usual schedule for me!

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, my Baby. I'm just checking in to wish you Sweet Dreams. Not a whole lot else to report. My friend Dave F. came over with his daughter and we had a nice walk down to the Orange Grove, to the Duck Pond and back. CSUN was having a graduation ceremony in front of the Oviatt, and the bleachers were packed with people......

It's already staying light outside until almost 8:30, and by mid June it will be so until almost 9. I bet it stays light until almost 10pm up north where you are. The sun finally came out today, after a couple weeks of overcast and cold, so cold that we had snow in the mountains! - in mid May, unheard of. It's still not very warm - low 70s - but maybe Summer is on the way.

I hope you had a great day and I will see you in the morning.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Busy Saturday Love & Sweet Babyism (reading, listening, singing, sweet dreaming)

Good Evening, Sweet Baby,

I saw your Sweet Baby post this morning, and it was a great way to start the day. Ours is the philosophy of Sweet Babyism! :)

I hope you had a nice Saturday and are enjoying your evening. I was pretty busy all afternoon. First I went to a luncheon at church, a fundraiser for charity. There were about 100 people there, and the funny thing was that I was one of about three men in the whole place. But, one of the others was a gentleman in our choir who plays piano, and he played today. Betthoven, Chopin, Debussy - he is really good. So that was a nice occasion, and then I met my sister - who finally came over after two months - for some late afternoon shopping. Then it was back to Pearl's at 4:30, and here I am.

Any filming and or photography today? The answer has gotta be yes, I would imagine. :)

Well, I have gotta do my entire walk in one piece, so I will head out in a few minutes and do the whole 5 miles. Enjoy the rest of your evening, and I will see you when I get back to Pearl's at the usual time.

I Love You! Hope all projects are coming along well. :)

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, my Darling. I saw your post just a little while ago (of your friend's picture), so you may be still awake. I didn't do a heck of a lot since my earlier check-in, just my walk and reading my book. Still working on "Synthetic Terror" by Webster Griffin Tarpley, a real eye opener that details how most terrorism, and terror groups, are created and controlled by the CIA and MI6 (England), using malcontents and other disturbed peoples in countries which the CIA and MI6 wish to destabilise, thus allowing the USA to continue to maintain superpower status.

A grim subject, to be sure, but that's one of my specialties - the study of what's really going on.

Trusted authors only, however - Dr. Farrell, Tarpley, Dr. Judy Wood, Mark Gaffney and a few others.

Also listening to the Maria Callas aria from the Saint Saens "Samson And Delilah", which I heard on this morning's KUSC Opera Show. Truly incredible singing.

Tomorrow morning is choir, speaking of singing, and we have a fairly easy song, "Go Ye Into All The World" by Eugene Butler. I've got my part down and am rarin' to go!

I will see you after choir practice, my Baby. I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :):)

Sweet Dreams..........

Late Night Sweet Dreams And Love

Hi, my Darling,

Happy Late Friday Night. Not much to report today, hence the late check-in. Maybe you were working on your project at the warehouse? Just guessing. :) I see also, from a post on your FB, that you are continuing to work with your designer friend from Horse Power. Seems like you are working pretty steadily!

Is it just me, or does it seem like this year is going by really fast? Maybe it's just because of all the recent changes : from 2012 through most of 2014, I was working only daytime for Pearl, and you were still at UW. It was a steady schedule, which can make life seem to unfold at a steady pace. But since last Fall, I am at Pearl's almost round-the-clock, and in the choir, and you went to Italy to study art, and now you are getting jobs as a photographer and videographer. The changes can make life seem to unfold very quickly.

The coolest thing is, all you've gotta do is keep shooting, and you are creating your life. Creating your life is the ultimate act of artistry, and it is also done in the image (or imagination) of God, who created life to begin with. Creating your own life is an homage to God.......

That's all I know for tonight, Sweet Baby. Sweet Dreams, and I will see you in the morning.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Drizzly Day At Corriganville + Love (thunder & pouring rain & love)

Good Afternoon, Sweet Baby,

I am back from Pearl's, having taken a trip to Corriganville while she was at her Women's Club meeting. It was drizzling pretty steadily, so I didn't get to take a ton of photos, but I got a few flower shots. I love that place, and there was no one there but me. It was also fun because I had just watched the Robin Hood movie last weekend (did I mention that? The classic one from 1938 with Errol Flynn and Olivia deHavilland), and they shot some of the Sherwood Forest scenes there, so it was neat to imagine them making the movie so long ago. They also shot a Robin Hood tv series there in the 1950s, among many other things.

I hope you are having a nice day. I saw your Sweet Baby post this morning and I loved it! You are my Sweet Baby and I love you.  :):)

I am gonna have something to eat and then get ready to head back to Pearl's in a bit, but I just wanted to say hi and wish you a nice evening. I will be back later, or course, and will be on usual schedule all day. No more movies at CSUN until Fall, so I'll be mostly at home, except for my walk.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, my Darling. I am sitting in Pearl's kitchen with the heater on again, listening to KUSC. Man, you'd think it was Winter if there wasn't a calendar on the wall. Blustery and cold today, drizzly too, and then tonight : whammo! Starting at about 7:30, the rain came down as hard as I can ever remember, accompanied by very loud thunder. It was almost a little spooky, just because it is one week from Memorial Day, and we only ever get weather like this in December - February, and even then rarely. But as I may have said yesterday (I can never remember what I've already said anymore, lol) I would bet a nickle that they (or should I say They) are messing with the weather, because of our drought. I've never in all my life seen weather like this in mid-May.

None of which is a complaint, especially to a Wisconsonite who deals with the ultimate in weather extremes. No, in my case, I am only describing the strangeness factor, and it was strange to hear both the torrential downpour and the apocalyptic thunder on a May evening in the Valley.

Corriganville was nice today, though. Very peaceful there. I've lately only been getting typical "flowery scenery" shots on my hikes, and I always debate whether I should post 'em, but I figure I've gotta post something. They aren't bad shots (I hope!), but last Summer, when I was getting all of my Sunshine Ghost pictures, I kind of set a style and I hoped to stay in that style..........but it's not always possible unless all the components are in place, and the main component for the more subliminal pictures is heat.

Heat, heat, heat. That seems to bring out the Sunshine Ghosts. And believe me, you can feel 'em when they're there. That type of photography is what I strive for, and I can pretty much feel if it's gonna be there or not, on any given day. Summer will be best for it, if indeed we get a true Summer this year. Fingers crossed!

Until then, a few flower photos can't hurt.  :)

I hope you had a nice evening. It is late, so I will post and wish you Sweet Dreams, and then I will see you in the morn.

I Love You, Elizabeth.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Tuesday Evening Love (late night love)

Good Evening, my Darling,

I am home and just wanted to say hi. I am gonna head out on my walk in just a minute so I can get to the Northridge library before it closes. I've gotta return some movies, including "Lost Highway" by David Lynch, which I watched this afternoon. You may have seen the creepy clip I posted on FB, lol. "Lost Highway" is one of the best Lynch films, I think. This was the first time I'd seen it in about ten years, and only the second time overall, but it's really good.

I hope you had a nice day and are enjoying your evening! I will be back from my walk by 8:30, and will be around on the usual schedule after that. I'll write more later tonight.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, Sweet Baby! I'm just sitting here in Pearl's kitchen, and tonight I'm cold. We are still having that overcast & chilly weather, and in a minute here, I'm gonna have to either turn the heater on or put on my jacket, or both. Truly weird weather for mid-May, when normally we'd be headed for Summer. I know they are probably messing with the weather, trying to make it rain, but I'm a cold wimp! It is supposed to rain tomorrow, though I'll believe it when I see it, and because I don't believe it, I will try and do a hike in the morning while Pearl is at her Women's Club meeting.

I hope you had a nice day. I saw some of your posts, and they seem to be food related today. I saw the Wonka vending machine, but because of the way your friend Sarah worded her comment, I initially thought it was a pot machine! I was thinking, "man, they are pretty far out up there in Washington". Better that it's a chocolate machine, which is what I imagine it actually is. :)

That's all for tonight, my Baby. I am looking forward to seeing your video and anything else you have in the works. Sweet Dreams, and I will see you in the morning.

I Love You, Elizabeth.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Late Night Love

Hi, my Darling,

Happy Late Night. Sorry I didn't post earlier but I had nothing to report, it was just a typical Tuesday. I am thinking that you were probably busy too, maybe preparing for your upcoming shoot. I will try and go on a hike either tomorrow or, more likely, Thursday. Pearl has a major Women's Club meeting that morning which will cancel out her hair appointment and last until 2pm, so that's good for a hiking trip. Today, all I did was read and watch a movie. I am on a big Western kick right now, and I am finding a lot of old classics in the library system. They now will send dvds from other libraries in the L.A. libe system (The Los Angeles Public Library is made up of 62 libraries total), so now I can search a director's name, or an actor's, or film titles, and I am finding a ton of movies at other libes that I haven't seen before. When my Mom was alive, we used to watch a lot of movies, and when I exhausted all the watchable titles at local libraries, I would drive to other libes that were several miles away. And over the years we watched a lot of titles from those libraries, too. The LAPL system is as good as Netflix if not better. And now, finally, they will send dvds from far-off branches, ones in Hollywood and Downtown and other neighborhoods that are too far to drive to. So now I have a new supply.

Yeah, I know I'm a bit ridiculous when it comes to movies, but.........movies rule!

Good ones, anyway. :)

So today I watched a Western called "Jubal" with Glenn Ford and Ernest Borgnine, and it was classic in every respect, including gorgeous Technicolor Cinemascope photography, shot in Wyoming. I've probably mentioned a while back, but when I worked at Metrocolor, I used to run the 70mm developing machine, and we would process a lot of wide screen flicks, of the type that aren't made anymore.

Well, I will post now, and wish you Sweet Dreams. Sleep well and I will see you in the morning.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

I Need A Hiking Buddy Too :):) (built-in pro)

Good Evening, my Darling,

I am just now home from Pearl's. I hope you are having a nice day, and I've gotta say thanks, because you stayed up really late last night to make that post, the one with the guy and gal together. Of course I got the message. I am finding your posts a little bit more easily now. I just check the news feed and use the blue highlight trick. It's working a little better now, and I see you have another upcoming shoot at a warehouse. That's excellent news! It looks like you are getting a good flow of jobs lately, and making new friends and connections, all of which is great. :)

Aren't you glad you changed your major and went with your dream? :)

I think it's all awesome, myself.

I like your posts about hiking, and I need a hiking buddy, so will you be mine? Also, if you accept then you can be my Disneyland buddy too. I haven't been there in almost four years, and it's clear that my sister is never gonna go again, so I need you to go with me! We'll have a blast.

Well, I am gonna go for part of my walk right now, and then at 8pm, Grimsley is coming over to pick up a Rush ticket I got for him today. He doesn't have a debit card, so I used mine and he's gonna pay me.

I'll be back to write more when I get to Pearl's, at the usual time.

Enjoy the rest of your evening, Sweet Baby!

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :):)

(back in a bit)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, my Darling. I hope you are able to get all the garments you need for your warehouse shoot. I guess that means that you already have the models, or a model, lined up to wear them? And you yourself have rented the warehouse? So all you need then, is the garments, which would be supplied by prospective clients?

All of this is a guess, of course, and I suppose that the client could be the designer (i.e. supplier of garments), or the model (i.e. wanting publicity shots).

But it all sounds totally pro, and girl, you just jumped right in and you have all the organisational ability - renting the warehouse and such. You see? You have "pro" built in you. And it looks like you are building a network of friends that can help with further connections. Do you like studio photography best? Meaning, of course, anything - especially fashion or portrait photography - dealing with set-ups and lighting, props, etc.

You sure have a knack for all the techniques associated with it. :)

But you will have success in any aspect of photography just as long as you keep shooting. That's the key.

And of course I know you wanna - and you've gotta - get paid.

That will come, and it will continue to build. Just set that idea in your mind. Your main thing is to just keep shooting, and perfecting techniques, and developing your "look".

You are not long out of SRISA and already on your way.

Way to go, Elizabeth!

I Love You and will see you in the morning.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Sweet Dreams.

Late Sunday Night Love (birds & sweet dreams)

Hi Elizabeth,

I am just getting situated at Pearl's, getting settled in for another work cycle. I went over to Grimsley's earlier, at 6:30, to watch a Ritchie Blackmore dvd that he'd just gotten, "Black Masquerade". It was really good! This morning was good in church, too, and we did a ton of rehearsing after the service, which I always enjoy because I like singing so much.

I hope you had a nice day, and perhaps a nice Mother's Day too, if you celebrated with your Mom. :)

I am always looking for your posts, and I saw one yesterday of a girl wearing a hat that created laced patterns on her face, and I thought "Elizabeth did that first"!, which might have been what you were thinking too. I will look for more posts. I wish FB would put everything back the way it was, but what can you do....

I hope you are still with me. I know you are busy, though. No worries, and I'm right here in any case. I am gonna have a snack real quick, and then I'll be back in just a little bit, but I'll post now so you'll know I'm here.

I Love You, Elizabeth.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

12:20am : Now I do see a few more of your posts, including the pics of the Baltimore Orioles. Those birds are beautiful, and it's a coincidence that we were just looking at a whole series of Audubon bird drawings at The Huntington yesterday. He drew them life size with perfect coloring so they looked like reproductions of the actual birds, and those drawings had similar qualities to the photos you posted.

I have only caught one bird in a photo - one colored one, anyway - and that was the woodpecker I saw on my Halloween day hike of last year at Walker Ranch. That was one of my best days ever for photos.

You can feel when you are having such a day, right?

I can't wait for another one!

Well, that's all for tonight. Today, the heavy overcast and accompanying cold air finally left us, so now we can get ready for Summer. I hope it is nice in Wisconsin as well.

Sweet Dreams, Elizabeth. I will see you in the morning. I Love You.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Huntington Today

Hi Elizabeth,

Just checking in to say hi, super late I know, but maybe you are still awake. We went to The Huntington today and had a nice time. I posted a couple pics on FB. My new favorite thing there is the Japanese House, because like I said in my caption, it makes me feel like I'm in an Ozu movie. We saw all the same gardens and exhibits as last time, but this time we had lunch in the Tea Room, which is a favorite of Huntington patrons. You would love the place; there is so much to see. This time also, we went into the main library with it's famous collection of letters and books, and we saw a Gutenberg Bible, one of only 11 remaining in the world.

A fun day, all in all, and I hope you had a great day too. We got back to the Valley at about 4:30, then I came home and I've just been hanging around ever since. I took a nap cause I was tired after all that walking. The Huntington is huge. Then this evening, I watched a classic : "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" with Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone and Olivia deHavilland. There have been many Robin Hood movies over the years, but the original is still the best, just so great in every aspect.

I am home tonight, but tomorrow morn I will be at church as usual, and then right back at work. In June, as I said, I will have two separate five day breaks, so that will be nice, and then we will be into Summer. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We've still got most of May to enjoy, and I think this is a great time of year.

I Love You and will see you in the morning.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :):)

P.S. Have a Happy Mother's Day with your Mom tomorrow!  :)

Excellent Work! (reiteration of great pics + pilot!) (sweet dreams)

Sweet Baby! ,

Tons of great photos! My goodness. They were just waiting around to be posted, I guess. :) I am still checking them out, and will continue in just a bit as I am just on a short break at the moment. Gotta run to the store real quick, and then I'll be back at Pearl's at 4:30. But I just wanted to check in to tell you how great those photographs look!

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Back in a little bit.

11pm : Hi my Darling, and Happy Late Night. I am actually writing from my house, as I am home tonight. I am off until Sunday morning, but it won't be an actual sleep-in because I will be back at Pearl's tomorrow morning for another trip to The Huntington Library. Pearl was given a one year membership pass for her birthday last year, hence the repeat trips. Plus, it's just plain an awesome place. Pearl's daughter is down for the weekend and was gonna take Pearl there for Mother's Day, and then she wanted to know if me and Vickie wanted to come along, too. Vickie wound up canceling at the last minute yesterday, but I am still gonna go along. We're gonna leave at about 10am and I should be home by about 4 or 5pm. This time I'll remember to bring my camera, too.

And speaking of which - the topic of the day has gotta be your pictures. Those are really great, Elizabeth. One thing I wanna know, though : in the picture of the airplane, were you taking a flying lesson? Or maybe it's a friend's plane and you were gonna fly it for a bit, once it was in the air? My friend Dennis used to do that with a pilot friend of his. The pilot would take the plane (a Cessna) up and land it, but while it was up there, he'd let Dennis fly it a little bit. I went up with them one time and it was a lot of fun. But did you do that, or did you fly it all the way, i.e. take off and land it, too?

Whatever the case, I bet it was an amazing experience! I am impressed and I think it's beyond cool! That is an interesting looking plane, too. Very small, almost like an experimental craft or a "kit" craft.

Totally cool, and now you can add pilot to your resume! :)

I just think the whole thing is great : your pictures, your art school experience, your extra trip to Germany, France, Austria, etc. I am glad you got to see Prague, too! And Ireland. And on top of that, you got to fly a plane, too. You had the trip of a lifetime, and you will always remember it, and your pictures will keep those memories alive always. They are all so good, and I'm glad you finally posted them!

Post some on your professional site, too, if you haven't already (I'll check to see if you have).  :)

You now have quite a portfolio, and what a great period you are in right now. All you've gotta do is just keep doing what you're doing, as I always say. That, and be in the moment, so that you can enjoy all the details of each experience.

I hope your music video is coming along well, too.

I will post this now, just because I want to reiterate how good your pictures are. I will be up for a little while, til about 1am or so, so I will check back in after a little while just to wish you sweet dreams and add anything else I can think of.

Today is a good day. I Love You, Elizabeth!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :):)

1am : I am about to head off into the land of Sweet Dreams, so I will wish you the same. See you in the morning, Artistic Lady. Sleep well.  xoxoxoxoxo :):)

Color + Ozu + Rain (movie + sweet dreams)

Happy Afternoon, my Darling,

Just checking in to say hi. I am back from the hair salon, this time I got my hair cut, too. Kim the stylist mentioned coloring my hair for the first time, and I had been meaning to mention it for a while now. I have always said when it's more grey than brown is when I will finally get it colored, and today she said, "do you ever think about having your hair colored"? So I said that I'll probably have her do it later in the year, maybe late Summer or Fall. I actually bought a box of Just For Men color about two years ago now, but I chickened out and never used it. Now, I'll just let Kim do it since she's the professional.

So look for new Fall color! :)

Well, tonight is the final film in the Ozu retrospective at CSUN, "An Autumn Afternoon". It's about a guy who finally decides, one Fall afternoon, to color his hair..........

Just kidding! :)

Actually I have no idea what it's about, but I'm sure it involves family and human relations, as do almost all of Ozu's films. He worked on a theme, over and over, and kept exploring that theme from different angles. We will have seen 18 of his 54 films, exactly one third of his output, and I think it's been one of the very best retrospectives we've had in the six years I've been attending the Cinematheque. Before this series, I had seen only a single Ozu film, the classic "Tokyo Story", which I have on dvd. Now, though, I've seen all these others, and he has become one of my most favorite directors.

It is chilly and windy today, overcast too, and they say it's gonna pour rain later tonight. I hate it! We have been having some truly crummy weather lately, just cold, cold and more cold, and now the wind has kicked in. Doggone climate change; you never know what you're gonna get anymore. It's 90 degrees in February and now it's Winter in May.

Oh well. I'll head out in a half hour or so and get in as much of my walk as I can. It'll probably be raining by evening.

I hope you are having a nice afternoon. Other than my walk, I will be around - here and at Pearl's - until 6:30. Then on to the movie, and back at Pearl's later tonight.

I Love You, Awesome Lady!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, my Darling. Well, the Ozu series has come to an end, and I really, really enjoyed it. Tonight's film had to do with the main theme from many of his films, the relationships between parents and children. In Japan in earlier decades, a big concern in the male-dominated society was making sure female children had marriage in mind as they entered adulthood. Many Ozu films deal with this theme, and even nosy neighbors get in on the act, inquiring of fathers and mothers as to why their child isn't married yet. Ozu always presents his women in a strong light, however. Almost all of his films have the female as the central character, and each is presented as being her own person, much to the chagrin of the men.

The thing with Ozu is that he knows people so well, and the emotions and circumstances in his movies translate into any culture. You watch his movies, with their picture-perfect frame composition, philosophical dialogue, and the mostly even temperments of the characters (almost no violence or heavy anger in Ozu films), and you find yourself wanting to live in his world.

And you can. I am gonna buy my favorite Ozu films on dvd, and I would recommend, for starters, seeing "Tokyo Story", "Late Spring" and "Early Summer". Remember, though, that his films are nothing like the films of today, style-wise, and so they do require patience. But the payoff is huge.

Next semester we are gonna do Orson Wells. I only know a few of his films, but as always I will look forward to it.

I hope you had a great day, and that things are going well. I'm still getting used to this new FB thing, but I will keep looking in the newsfeed and in my other ways. Today I saw your post for Falloch, of an awesome looking church they are playing in with Alcest, in Scotland. Maybe they will bring that tour here, too! Neige never stops touring, so perhaps there's a chance.

All is good, and so I will wish you sweet dreams, and see you in the morning.

I Love You, Elizabeth.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Aliso Today (sweet dreams)

Hi, my Darling,

I am home from Pearl's, checking the pictures I took at Aliso Canyon this afternoon. I didn't get too many good ones, but a couple are okay. I discovered a new feature on my little cam, called "film grain". It works only on b&w, and it's supposed to make the pic look more like a film shot. I generally don't like gimmicks, but I thought I'd give it a try, just for fun. It does add grain, for sure, and maybe even a bit much, like what used to happen when you developed your own film and the chemicals were too hot. Then you'd get super grainy negatives. Sometimes, you could do it on purpose for a neat effect. Anyway, I posted a few pics on FB. I know the one of the bug is blurry, but it's kinda cool that way, I think. Makes the bug look extra creepy. :)

I had a nice hike, and of course Aliso is not strenuous, but I did do three miles so I get a break with a short walk tonight.

I hope you are having a nice day. I will check for any posts you've made. Hope your video is coming along well, too. I am gonna hang out for a while, til at least 8:30 (maybe more) and then finish up my mileage for the day. I will be back later at Pearl's, too.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night, Sweet Baby. All is quiet in the house except for KUSC on low volume here in the kitchen. They just played the famous waltz from "The Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky, one of the greatest melodies ever, I think. "Sleeping Beauty" is appropriate now, as well, so I will send the melody along with sweet dreams, to you. I hope you had a great day.

Happy Late Night :):)

Hi Elizabeth,

Happy Late Night, though a few minutes earlier than usual. I really had nothing to report earlier, which is why I didn't post. It was just an average Tuesday, and kinda chilly here, so I didn't go for my hike. I am still getting the hang of this new mode of communication, and the only post I could find by you was the PRS guitar picture. That is indeed one sweet looking guitar! I hope you're still playing yours. Anyway, I figure you are still working hard on the video, so keep at it until it's done. :)

I am actually playing pretty well myself, considering I've had to adjust with my bent finger. I'm glad I was taught to use my pinkie right off the bat. It's really come in handy since the demise of my ring finger. But, I can even use that finger somewhat, just not for most chords. Now I have taken to playing parts of chords, like fourths and fifths, etc., which is what most rock guitarists do anyway. Not many play full barre chords all the way through every song because there are too many overtones and too much dissonance. Same with chords like an open G. It sounds great on an acoustic, but through a Marshall the open strings ring too much. Hence, chord voicings are big for loud rock guitar. And they work good on acoustic, too. I just like to play, and when I am home, sometimes I will play while I am watching a movie, just for fun. That's what I did tonight. I watched another one of my movies I got at the library, this time it was "Last Train From Gun Hill". I've been Googling "classic Westerns" because I am a Western fanatic, and when that title came up, I knew I had to find it. That's a Western title if there ever was one, and luckily the Libe had a copy. It starred Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn, and it was top notch.

So, that was my evening. Now all is quiet at Pearl's, which is a Good Thing. I hope your day was good. I will be up for a little while, but I will send sweet dreams for now. If I can think of anything else, I'll add it.........

I Love You, Elizabeth!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Monday Evening Love (sweet dreams)

Good Evening, my Darling,

Just wanted to say hi and see how you are doing. You are probably still working on the video. I got a few movies from the library, so I may watch one of the shorter ones real quick before going on my walk. My day was routine but good. I may try for a hike either tomorrow or Wednesday. I need some new pictures!

Well, that's all for now. Enjoy your evening. I am on Usual Schedule and will write more back at Pearl's later on.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight : Happy Late Night. I think my new methods for finding your posts are working pretty good. I use the scroll, which usually goes back at least to the previous day, and I also mix up the main news feed, switch it from "top stories" to "most recent" and back again, and that updates it a lot. Finally, I can always use the blue highlight method described earlier. So, once again there's a way to work around a communication disruption. :)

I hope you had a nice evening. I did wind up watching a movie : "Moloch", a Russian art house film about Hitler, directed by the same guy who made "Russian Ark". Speaking of which, I may have remarked about that film quite a while ago, suggesting that you might like it because it is, among other things, a cinematic tour of L'Hermitage (now apparently known as The State Hermitage) in St. Petersburg. More than that, you might enjoy watching the camera technique, as the movie was photographed in a single continuous shot lasting over 90 minutes. But back to "Moloch", it was the same director making an art film about Hitler and Eva Braun. The subject matter ran mostly to Hitler spouting his philosophies of vegetarianism and genetics.

A peculiar film indeed. Crazy Russian directors.............  :)

Sweet Dreams, my Baby. I will see you in the morn.

I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Teddy (super duper)

Hi, my Darling,

Happy Sunday evening. Wow, that is quite an image of the teddy bear. Poor guy! At least his sacrifice was in the name of art. :) You are probably working on the finished product right now, I imagine. I have always been interested in the formula and/or shortcuts one uses to synch the music to the video, for instance, in music videos there is almost always other imagery used besides band footage, thus cutaways are used. What is the easy way to keep the music synched when the next shot of the singer comes up?

There's gotta be a formula, right?

At any rate, keep up the good work. I can't wait to see it!

We had a good day in choir, good singing all around. Our practice was real short, though, because some group of people had rented the chapel for an event and we had to clear out. Aww, shucks : I like the practices.

Well, there's always my car.........  :)

I am gonna hang out for a while, then do my walk later, maybe at 8:30 or so. Enjoy the rest of your evening. I will write more later tonight.

I Love You.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

12:20am : Happy Super Duper Late Night, my Baby. I am later than usual cause it took a while to get everybody situated. Hopefully all will now remain quiet on the Western Front. Not much to report from the evening, just my usual schedule of reading-listening and my walk. I am reading another 9/11 book by Webster Griffin Tarpley. It's a mindblower, of course.

Listening to the new album by Peter Hammill, weird and fantastic all in one. He is a guy who has maintained a high level of creativity well into his 60s, which is pretty amazing considering he began with Van Der Graaf Generator in 1969 and made so many amazing albums with them. He is one of my favorite singers and musicians in general.

You are probably asleep already, so you may already be dreaming Sweet Dreams, but if not, I wish them for you.

I Love You and will see you in the morning.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Out Of The Park (sweet dreams, hope your shoot went well)

Hi Elizabeth,

I just wanted to send you some good energy and all my best wishes for your video shoot this evening. It's already a foregone conclusion that you will knock it out of the park! I like the teddy bear in your photo. He looks like a good actor; he's got presence. :)

I will be looking forward to see the finished product, as always, and as I said before I am interested in the location you're gonna use as you say you've used it before. I can think of one thing, but I'm gonna keep it to myself just to see if I'm right.

You can probably guess which place I'm thinking of.  :)

Well, my sister didn't come over, and I've been hanging around most of the afternoon, so I am gonna go do some quick shopping now, before I head back to Pearl's. I will check back in this evening. If you get a chance, post later on to report on how the shoot went.

Go get 'em, Artist!

See you in a bit. I Love You!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight: I hope your shoot went well. I suppose it's even possible that you are still working on it, or just finishing up. One thing I know about shoots of any kind, once they are under way, a director and crew will put in many hours just to get as much as possible out of each session, especially if it is a one day thing.

I hope you got the desired results, though, and I'll bet you did!

That's all I know for tonight. Tomorrow is church and choir, and I am looking forward to singing in the morning. I will see you then.

I Love You, Elizabeth.

Sweet Dreams.  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Puzzled About Post (clarify?)

Hi Elizabeth,

I am writing a little bit earlier than usual, just because I didn't check in yet today, but also because I saw your post from Wendy's Lookbook a few minutes ago, and I'm not sure what to think of it. I mean, on the surface it's a good rule to live by, obviously. But I'm just wondering why you posted it, considering the implications a comment like that could have, given that this is how we communicate, with me interpreting your posts. I mean, you aren't referring to me with that comment, I hope. I really don't wanna say any more than that, about that particular post, but maybe you could clarify it? Just asking.......

It looks like you went to a concert tonight with your friends, and I hope you had a great time. I actually went to a concert myself, and it was right next door to my apartment at the Northridge Methodist Church. They had a classical organist playing, a guy by the name of Ty Woodward who was really good. I had seen the concert advertised on the church marquee a few days ago, and it was free, and you know I love organ music, so I had to be there.

I will write a bit more after I finish getting things situated here. If you're awake, maybe you can post something that might give me some idea what that Wendy's Lookbook post is supposed to mean. The wording itself is clear enough. I'm just wondering about the context, simply because this is how we communicate, and you would obviously know I would see such a post........

Anyway, I hope nothing is wrong, but if it is, please tell me.

I Love You and I'll be back in just a little while.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo  :):)

Midnight: I am back. I guess maybe you are still out with your friends. There aren't any page views for this blog so far. I know you will be busy tomorrow with your music video, but maybe if you have a chance you can let me know if anything is up.

I will say, especially with this latest fiasco with Facebook causing a twelve day shutdown in our communication, that at some point we are gonna have to move things forward. All of these problems take a toll on me. You have all of my words to read here at the blog, so for you, it's almost as if I am talking directly to you. But for me - going on three years now - all I have is symbolic posts to interpret. And when I see one like that Maya Angelou quote, it's pretty blunt. So, because this is our mode of communication, there's only two ways I can interpret such a post: "Elizabeth isn't referring to me" or "Elizabeth is referring to me". That's like flipping a coin, and it's not easy to guess what you mean, especially when that quote isn't true concerning me.

I will leave it up to you to tell me what it means, but it's hard for me because I see a post like that and then I stress out and have trouble getting to sleep, and I am sleep deprived as it is already.

At some point, I am gonna need for you to communicate with me directly. I hope you will want to. This method cannot go on for too much longer, if we want to really develop our relationship.

Anyway, for tonight all I ask is that you let me know about that post as soon as you can.

Thanks, Elizabeth.  I love you and will see you in the morning.  :):)
